Event Description

Loving Room brings local performers and music lovers with a mission to provide intimate and inspiring experiences in beautiful cosy spaces. Because who doesn't want to discover new locations and upcoming talent all in the same space at the same time?

Agenda of the evening

19:30 - 20:00- Doors Open

20:00 - 20:45- Myra Pilar

Myra Pilar is a singer and songwriter from Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Her music can be broadly described as Acoustic Pop, with influences from Soul, R&B and Sing- and Songwriting. The diversity of her repertoire makes her unique: from compelling and honest to danceable and groovy. Her deep, sincere voice and her lived-in lyrics surprise you in every song. In 2019 on Oct. 4, Myra Pilar released her debut album “MYRA PILAR.” On the same evening, she presented it at Merleyn in Nijmegen. The evening was an extreme success. Her first performance was sold out and even exceeded the maximum number of visitors. That was a great start for someone who had never released music before. The requests for gigs poured in (in the eye of a newly emerging artist). For the summer festivals in Nijmegen, she already had 5 gigs lined up. Unfortunately, the covid outbreak hit hard here as well. All performances were cancelled. Meanwhile, Myra Pilar has not been idle in the background. She recently released her second album on vinyl and in this album “Finally” you can find not only English but also Dutch songs. She has come even closer to herself in this album and as a result the album is even more diverse. January 12 she presented this in a once again sold-out Merleyn. The evening again proved to be a great success. You can now often find her at the Nijmegen festivals and recently all over the Netherlands.

20:45 - 21:00- Break

21:00 - 21:45- Bette Schindler

Born and raised on a barge in Amsterdam to her bohemian jazz musician family, Bette Schindler is a tour de force at life, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, performer and producer. Her spiritual sound glides seamlessly between old school classic and new. With songs that bring optimism, positivity and love. She has been likened regularly at radio to Norah Jones and Madeleine Peyroux. On releasing her debut single 'Woke Up' in summer 2024 she immediatly found herself on the playlist at the UK's Jazz FM, and the Netherlands NPO Jazz & Soul. Woke Up was the first release from the EP of the same name due out this year. The follow up single 'Your're so Beautiful' received much the same love with her last single 'I Love You' made track of the week with Jazz FM's Nigel Williams. The track featured a music video which also garnered a world wide exclusive at Liverpool Noise. After a sold out label showcase late 2024 at Notting Hill Arts CLub Jazz festival Bette has kicked of 2025 with an intimate live show at the prestigious Paradiso Amsterdam.

I've been to several of these events in the past year, and my favorite was the first one. The dancing and the atmosphere made it feel like we all knew each other, creating a fun experience. It feels like friends coming together for jam sessions at the end, which is really sweet. Another aspect I appreciate is having professional musicians involved, keeping the quality high. Overall, I really, really enjoyed the experience. I can't wait to go again!

My flatmate is a singer and she performs at loving room regularly, so I came here to support her. I liked my flatmate’s performance very much but also the third singer Abigael. She made me so emotional, I am really impressed. She was very open about her experiences and she shared quite some deep details. And then her music. I don’t speak Spanish, but it was just beautiful. Her last song was in English and it made me cry. The space is really nice too, I ordered a burger, its tasty and overall its cozy. I didn’t plan to stay for long, but I am already here longer than expected and I am not planning to leave.

I was looking for events online to go with my boyfriend and I saw this one and I thought it’s a nice one to go. I was not expecting the artists would be so good, and now I love it. My favorite artist was the third one, and I am definitely going to follow her on spotify. Personally, I love everything here honestly, also the atmosphere here. You told me you do it in different cafes, and its going to be a different experience every time, so far I love it.

I think it's funny, when I walked in I thought, oh, is this a meeting place? Is this a supermarket or an organic store? But I really like this. It's just something I've never experienced before.

I was thrilled with the idea of incorporating culture, which attracted more young people. I love connecting with people of all ages, seeing different faces, and enjoying the diverse music from around the world. It's a perfect match for us, gathering in the garden with people from Portugal, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia, and more. When I feel down after watching the news, coming here, hearing the music, and seeing young faces cheers me up.
